The Incorporated Society of Meat Importers' Smithfield market quotations foi' the undermentioned classes of frozen meat are based on actual sales of not less than one twenty-five quarters of beef of fair average quality. The quotations are not for hundred carcases of mutton W lamb, or selected lines, but for parcels fairly representative of the bulk of the shipments^ now on the market. Tho prices whioh follow are on the average a farthing per lb more than the values ex ship, this difference representing th© average cost in expense, handling, conveyance, and selling the meat: — Sheep.— Australian ewes, 3 9-16 d; heavy River Plates, 4§d. Lambs.— Canterbury, light, old seasons, 6|d; Australian, best _ brands, 5 7-16 d; fair quality, 6Ad; inferior, 4j?d. Beef.— New .Zealand hinds, 3|d; Australian fores, 3 146 d; River Plate chilled fores, 3j(d; hinds, 4|d. RABBITS. The rabbit market is steady and prioes are unchanged. BREADSTUFFS. The wheat and flour afloat for the United Kingdom totals 2,600,000 ' quar< ters; for the Continent, 2,100,000; Atlan* tio shipments, 434,000; Paoifio shipments, 30,000. The total shipments to Eu,rope during the week amounted to 1,630,000 quarters, including 267,000 from Australasia. (Received February 3, 9.15 a.m.) LONDON. 2nd February. NeW Zealand hemp.— The market is firm. January-March shipments are quoted at £34 10s per ion. Jute.— 'Native first marks, FebruaryMarch shipment, £26 12s 6d per ton. Rubber.— Fine hard Para rubber 1 is quoted a^ 4s _ 3^d per lb. ' • Copra is in good demand. South Sea, bagged, £27 ISs per ton. Cotton.— February-March shipments of American middling cotton are quoted at 6.63 id per lb. Tallow.— Stock, 3114 tons; imports, 2436 tons; deliveries, 2789 tons. METAL MARKETS. Galvanised iron, first brands, £16 ISs per ~ton (a faU of £1 per ton sinco 4th January); second brands, £14 15s /fall of 10s). Tin-plates.— l.C. coke, 15s (4£d lower); I.C. charcQal, 16s (4£d lower). Fencing wire is quoted at £8 5s per ton. Angle steej, £7 5s per ton (2s- 6d higher). Tram rails, £5 17s per ton (Is higher). Wire-netting, 55 per cent, off: lipt. Cement.— German, 5s l£d (l£d lower;. Tin. — Stocks total 14,875 tons; on spot, ,704 tons; afloat, 4855 tons; deliveries, 2667 tons.
