FIRES
DOCTOR'S MOTOR-CAR HOU-SE DESTROYED. (nr TELEGRAPH— -PRESS ASSOCIATION.) CAMBRIDGE, 31st January. The third fire within a few days in Cambridge occurred last night, Dr. Stapley',3 motor-car house being destroyed. Tlie doctor's motor was luckily saved, thanks to the good work of the "brigade. The doctor's dwelling-house, only a few yards away, was saved intact. The building was owned by Dr. Roberts, and was insured in the Royal office for £80, but the damage is -in excess of that amount. Tho fire originated outside the motor-house. The cause is unknown. DUNEDIN, 31st January. Tho grocery premises occupied by Foulds in King-street were badly damaged by fire early this morning. The fire originated in the residential quarter of the premises. The insurances are : — Building (owned by Mrs. Dodds), £275 in the iSational Oifice; furniture, £150 in the Ocean Office ; stock, £320 in the Alliance Office.
