-<. Dr. A. M'Arthur, S.M., heard the following additional cases at the Magistrate's Court yesterday. . Tho Inspector of Awards (D. Caimody) proceeded against William James Hart, butcher, and Davis Gerondis, restaurant-keeper, for failing to keep proper wages books. A conviction was cnteied in each, case, and fines of £2, with 7b costs, imposed. Cornelius Christiansen was fined ss. with costs (9s), for travelling oira. tramcur without paying tho fare. It appeared thdt accused had bought a ticket, but lot>fc il, and vvh-cn the conductor demanded another tare ho became annoyed. For allowing stock to wander, K. H. Smith was fined 10s, with cv«t 5 (&>,) ; Fred Diamond, 7s with costs (11) ; diaries Neilson, 5s with coats (£1 Is) ; and John Ferguson, 5a with co.-its (7s). For ill-treating », horse by working it while it was suffering 'from eorcs, Thomae Scurr was tied £2, with costs (7s). Henry Hind was cautioned and diaehirged on an information alleging that ho had wantonly rung the Island Bay firebell on 31st January. Mr. P. W. Jackson appeared for the accused, and said that .the whole affair happened on New Year's Eve. The accused was with somo lady friends at the time. The Magistrate said that a caution would meet the case. It was not conclusively proved that accused had rung the Dell, and the brigade did not turn out. William John Hogan was charged with assaulting George Marvin, so a 6 to cause him actual bodily harm, on 27th January. Sub-In6pectov Shechan conducted the prosecution, and Mr. Qoulter appeared for the accused. Tha caso arose out of a disturbance which occurred in Willis-street on last Monday evening. Medical evidence was given that Marvin had been cut, on Ilm neck below the right rar, nnd that he w.is bleeding profusely botore lit* vvns tiiken to the Hospital. The allegation was that accused had inflicted the injiiiv with a broken beer which was produced in Court. After healing tho evidence, accused was committed for trial. Bail was not asked for. Kenneth Brown, Timothy Daly, and Rugby Malcolm were each fined £2. with costs (7^j. in default seven dav>" imprisonment, for fihliing for trout "in the Kaiucuwi bticani without a l-cente.
