The Admiral and oilicers of the Japanese cruners, Adztuna and .Sayo were enteitained by the Federal Government. The Prime Minister (Mr. Andrew Fisher) said that the geographical relation of Australia and Japan made the countries neighbours. He hoped the two peoples would always be friends and co-operate to enable that friendship to bo deep and lasting. There was sufficient scope for all enterprising people, and it could be said that Japanese enterprise and vigour made their name honoured throughout the world. The- Admiral, in replying, said Japan would always be anxious to enjoy the friendship of the Anglo-Saxon people, whom all his countrymen admired.
