(Received February 1, 8 a.m.) VIENNA, 31st January. The Triplice considers Turkey's reply a considerable concession and a sufficient basis for further negotiations. DENUNCIATION OF ARMISTICE. CAUSES TURKS SURPRISE. CONSTANTINOPLE, 31st Jan. The Government, in a lengthy reply to tile Powers' Ndte, pointed out that the suggestion to cede Adrianople caused the downfall of the late Ministry. Nevertheless the Government was prepared to place itself in the Powers' hands as regards the portion of Adrianople on the right bank of the Maritza, while keeping the part on the left bank. Any other course would create a commotion in the country. The Porte declares that it is willing to abide by the Powers' decision regarding the Aegean Islands, provided the integrity of the Dardanelles and Asia Minor is maintained. It is indispensable that the Powers should recognise Turkey's right to control the Customs, and consent meanwhile to a 4 per cent, increase in the duties, and also to the "abolition of the foreign post offices and the capitulations. The Turks are surprised at the denunciation of the armistice, as they believed that the Allies would await their reply to the IV/v\ers' Note. AT ADRIANOPLE. PROVISIONS~EXHAUSTED. SURRENDER OF TOWN DEMANDED. (Received February 1, 8 a.m.) PARIS. 31st January. The Matin's correspondent at Sofia states that an escapee from Adrianople says that the provisions are exhausted. The civilians and soldiers demanded the town's surrender. There was great excitement, and several officers were killed. LONDON, 31st January. The Daily Chronicle states that the besiegers of Adrinaople now number 105,--000, and possess much heavy artilleiy. The siege guns are stronc; enough to lay Adrianople in ruins m two days. DISSENSIONS AT CHATALDEJA. CATEGORICAL DENIAL. LONDON, 31st January. The Turkish Embassy has authorised a categorical denial of the malicious rumours of sanguinary dissensions at Chataldeja. ORDER TO OFFICERS (Received February 1, 1 p.m.) CONSTANTINOPLE, 31st January. Officers have been ordered to rejoin their regiments within twenty-four hours.
