KUAPEHTJ AT 11ONTE VIDEO. According to advice received locally, the New Zealand Shipping Company's R.M.S. Ruapchu, which sailed from Wellington on the 10th January for London, via way ports, arrived at Monte Video on Thursday last, 30th JanuaVy. TAHITI SAILS FOR SAN FRANCISCO. At 6 o'clock last evening the R.JI.S. Tahiti sailed from Wellington for San Francisco, where she is due on the 20th Febrilary. The vessel took tho following cargo for transhipment to Vancouver :— 6OOO boxes of butter, 57 tons hemp, 489 quarters beef, and 71 catcases of veal, biie also had a fairly large number of New Zealand passengers for all ports. WHAKARUA LEFT LONDOK. Messrs. Bannatyne and Co. advise that the Tyser steamer Whakarua left London last luesday for the four principal New Zealand ports, via Melbourne and Sydney. She is due at Wellington about the Tth April. DELPHIC DUE FOR LOADING. On arrival in port this afternoon from Newcastle, via Napier, the Delphic will berth at the King's Wharf, where she is to commence Homeward loading. From Wellington she will proceed to Bluff for a similar purpose, and thence to Port Chalmers and Timaru. On completion of loading at the last mentioned port she comes bnck to Wellington, being due here on the ICth. February. Her departure for London will probably be taketi on the 20th February. THE NEW DUTCH STEAMERS. Owing to labour troubles and the congested state of the shipbuilding yards, the new Dutch steamers building for the Royal Packet Company's Java-Australia Line, have been somewhat delayed. The Tasman, which was launched from Earle's yards, Hull, in October last, should have been delivered to the owners by the end of last year, but, according to latest advices received, blip will not be ready to sail from Holland until February, so that she may be expected in Australia by the end of April, or a month later than at first anticipated. The lloutmau, a sister ship of the Tasman, is being built at Amsterdam, and will, most probably, be expected in Australia by the end of July. The Tasman and Houtman are fine vessels of (>OOO tons each, and will be by far the lafgest and fastest steamers trading between Australia and Java. Messrs. Bannatyue and Co. advise that the Kairaki will leave Lyttelton to-day for Wellington. She will sail from this port at 10 a.m. on Monday for Westport and Karamea. Due here on Tuesday next from Onehunga and New Plymouth with dairy produce for transhipment to 'the Turakina, the Corinna will leave the next day lor southern ports with cargo only. The Kittawa arrived at Wnnganui on Thursday afternoon from Newcastle, via New Plymouth. She will sail on Monday for Westport to load for a port not yet nnmed. The New Zealand Shipping Company's steamer Hurunui is due here next Thursday to complete Homeward loading. She will sail on Saturday for London. Captain Grey, who for some time pnst has been master of the ketch Kereru, trading between Niue and Auckland, has joined the Richardson Line, ne is to go to Napier shortly for orders. Changes have taken place on the Government steamer Hinemoa. Mr. H. F. Tomlinson, chief officer, has been appointed surveyor of ships and clerk at the Government Shipping Olhce, Dunedin; Mr G. Drummond, late third officer, has been promoted to second ; and Mr Martin, late of the Canopus, has signed on the vessel as third officer. The F. and S. steamer Nairnshire will complete loading at lyttelton to-night, and is to sail to-morrow morning for Avonmouth and West of England ports. Mr. W. Neville, at present assistant purser of the Maunganui, will, on arrival of the vessel at Sydney, exchange positions with Mr. Ewun, purser of the Wakatipu. The collier Wairuna was to have sailed from Auckland ln-it niight for Newcastle to load coal for New Zealand. Mr. G. McLeod has signed on the Tarawera as fourth ollleer.
