CENTRE TOURNAMENT FINAL. NORWOOD DEFEATS WEBB. Norwood, the Victoria ski] 1 , achieved an easy victoiy in the final game in the Wellington Bowling Centre's New Year tournament, played on the Wellington Club's green last evening. His opponent, Webb (Wellington), was somewhat handicapped in that one or two members of his team did not play- up to form. The losers seemed to go to pieces after the seventh head, Norwood steadily increasing his lead to the end, when they finished 27 to 13. Of Webb's rink Grenfell (lead) vas the only man to play up to form. The teams were :—Victoria—Townsley, Godber. Ingram, Norwood (skip), 27 : Wellington— Grenfell, Focke, Thomson, Webb (skip). 13. At the conclusion of the game, Mr. Victor Dimock, president of the Wellington Centre, congratulated the winneis cordially, and presented Mr. Norwood with the centre shield. ti\ ecial reference wa3 made to the fact that Mr. Webb had been concerned h> the final for the last three years : t wo _ years ago as runner-up, last year as winner, and runner-up again for this season. Tribute was paid the retiring secretary of the centre (Mr. T. Churchward) for his excellent work- iv connection with these tournajnerits. The Norwood rink, in winning the centre tournament, put vj 1 a unique record. The link went right through with* out a loss, won the aggregate prize for the highest points scored, and won the shield and trophies (£2»2s worth to each member of the team). , DUTHIE CUP. The Duthie Cup. the trophy competed for annually by two rinks from the Wellington, Hutt, and Wanganui Bowling Clubs, is to be played for at Wanganui on 15th Febiuary. The Wellington Club has so far not selected its representatives Hutt will bo represented by the following rinks : — M'Kenzie, Cudby, Macaskill, O. Stevens (skip) ; Jones, Trevcthick. Hollard, Hendry (sTvip). THE "SIXTY-FIVERS" SINGLES. When in New Zealand last year Mr. Glen, a member of the proprietary of White Horse Whisky, met Mr. J J. Roberts, the secretary of the Northern Bowling Association, and in return for courtesies shown the visitor the latter presented Mr. Roberts with a handsome pair of Lawrie howls. As Mr. Robcrtsis well equipped with bowls, he has decided to ofter the Lawrie pair as a prize in a singles match to be competed for by j layers of 65 years of age or over belonging to the Wellington, Newtown, Victoiia, and Thomdon Clubs. Entries will close on Tuesday next with Mr. Roberts, who hopes to get a start with the games next week. The matches will be 'played on the "sudden-death" principle.
