CAUGHT IN THE ACT
ARREST OF A SUNDAY-SCHOOL TEACHER. The arrest of a girl of good family at Danbury, Connecticut, caught in the act of lobbing a house has caused considerable sensation in that town. The girl, Amy Travel's, is only 22, and is ratlier pretty, while her people are among the most respected in Danbury. The girl was dresbed in man's clothing, which she confessed was given her by a confederate. George Smith, a notorious thief. Smith, who is v presentable fellow, by some means got tho girl in iovo with him, and apparently has been employing her in the commission of crime. The girl is infatuated with the burglar, and refuses to give any information which might lead to his capture. From the partial confession she has made, however, several iobberies of houses are attributed to the girl, working under the direction of Smith The affair has caused the greatest sensation, because Amy Travers is exceedingly popular in Danbury, and was a teacher in ono of the local Sundaybdiools. She managed her nightly thefts by telling her paients that &hu was going to bpend tho night with a. girl friend, and neither her people nor any of her fiitmds had the slightest, buapieion of how tho girl was employing her thus.'
