The Mon. W. F. Massey returned to Wellington from Hastings yesterday evening, the Hon. W. H. Hemes is due back from Hawkes Bay this evening, the Hon. W. Fraser is on his way to Wellington from' Dunedin. the Hon. R. H. Rhodes is at Timaru, and the Hon. Dr. Pomare and the Hon. F. M. B. Fisher at Hokitika. Other Cabinet Ministers are in Wellington. Lieut. E. G. Rhodes is a passenger for : San Francisco by the Tahiti to-day. j Sir Robert Stout, Chief Justice, has returned to Wellington from Auckland. Mr. Hy. Willie, Speaker of the New South Wales Assembly, return* to Sydney this evening. His Honour Mr. Justice Edwards, accompanied by his associate, Mr. R. W. Bothamley, will leave Wellington for Auckland by the Main Trunk express to-morrow. <* Bishop Mules, late of Nelson, has been awarded the lone service medal of the New Zealand Auxiliary Force in recognition of a total service as chaplain for over twenty years. Mr. Chafles- Reisop, signalman at Manakau Heads, is, it ii! understood, to be transferred to Portland Island. ' A movement is, however, on foot among the master mariners trading to the port to retain his services at Manakau, and a memorial to the Minister of Marine on the subjects ie being prepared. They point out that Mr. Reisop has had some twenty«two years' experience at the Heads, and has gained the confidence of the master mariners. Mr. Milton M'Rae, an American jour« nalist, of Detroit, Michigan, arrived from Sydney by the Tahiti yesterday, and intends to tour the Dominion. He has in the past five years three times teen round the world, and he is writing A series of articles for the Scripps-M'Rae newspapers in the West and Middle West of the United States on his travels and observations. Mr. M'Rae is accompanied by Mr, Raphael Hermann. Tho death occurred on Wednesday, at Dunedin, of Mr. W. A. Webb, who was a prominent Otago cricketer a few years back. The deceased, telegraphs The Poet's Dunedin correspondent, was 'the mainstay of the Opoho Club for a number of seasons. He was 1 a useful rightHand bowler, and he toured New Zealand with an Otago team some years since. Failing health caused him to give up cricket about four years ago. The deceased was a, single man, forty, years of age. The death occurred yesterday at his residence, St. Clair, Dunedin, ' of Mr. William Milne, late headmaster of the Caversham School, in his eightieth year. Mr. Milne received lv's early training in Scotland, and wa» a Master of Arts of Aberdeen University, He came to New Zealand in 1865, and was appointed by the Otago Education Board headmaster of Caversham School the same year. He filled this position up to the time of his retirement on superannuation in 1906, period of forty-one years. Deceased had been in failing health for some time. _ The Rev. Father Walsh, at present stationed at the Hutt, is to be transferred to Dannevirke, and the Rev. Father Ainsworth, formerly of Wellington South, from Eltham to Nelson. Other clerical' changes in the Wellington Catholic Archdiocese i are announced as follows by the Administrator (the Very Rev. Father O'Shea): Rev. Father O'Beirne, from New Plymouth to Inglewood; Rev. Father Bergin, from Manaia to Waipawa ; Rev. Father Saunderson, from Waipawa to Manaia: Rev. Father Kelly, from Foxton to Kaikouraj Rev. Father Dore, from Kaikoura to Foxton j Rev. Father Cahill, from Daunevirke to Eltham. The Anglican Bishop of Wellington (Dr. Sprott) will be in Auckland from 4th to 10th February inclusive. He is to deliver a series of midday addresses to men, and also to conduct several church services.
