GOODS TRAFFIC.
<e» . ■ ■ RESTRICTED RAILWAY SERVICE. [BY TKMHJBAPH — SPECIAL XO THE POST.] DUNEDIN, This Day. A restricted /railway service for the economical working of goods traffic throughout New Zealand will be introduced on 6th May. Instead of goods being forwarded to smaller stations every day they will have a. service two or threo times a week, according to the quantity to send. There are ninety-seven stations served from Dunediil to which the restricted service will apply. A fiimilai' system has been' in operation in several of the Australian States for some years. It has been found to work satisfactorily, and at the same time to be effective, resulting in a very considerable sa\ing in the cost of working die railways.
