Cook, owner of the vefasel, stated that he had heard nothing of the Annie Hill since she left Greymouth on Sunday, 15th inst., for Lyttelton. It iB stated that the rumour regarding the loss of she vessel was set in circulation by a, drunken sailor. It was added to on Saturday night by the statement that the schooner Morning Light, which loft Lyttelton lasli Saturday week for Waitapu, had also been lost. It would be ■well (comments an exchange) if groundless rumours of this kind could be hhceted home to the originator, as they are the cause of needless pain and anxiety to the relatives and friends of the crews of vessels concerned.
