ST. HILDA'S.
The report to be presented to-morrow night to the parishioners of St. Hilda's Anglican Church, Island J3ay, by the churchwardens and vestry slates that the parish is in a very satisfactory position, and a marked improvement has. besn shown in the attendances at all services. The gatherings at the Miosion of Help were the largest religious gatherings that had been held at Island Bay. Keen interest was taken in the Sunday School, the choir, the C.E.M.S., the Mothers' Union, and St. Hilda's Club. A new church had been erected, in which service.? had been held. The money availo.ble would not permit of more than the nave of the ultimate church being built at present, it being the intention that two side aisles and a chancel should be added in brick as soon as the attendances warrant that step, and when sufficient funds are forthcoming, and the vestry strongly recommends that measures be taken to increase tht> seating accommodation as soon as circumstances will permit. Sincere and grateful thanks are tendered* all those who had so generously assisted financially. Appreciation of the splendid effort made by those responsible for promoting and carrying to such a successful issue the bazaar held last •November in aid of the church building fund is also recorded. The church is specially indebted to the following clergy for valuable assistance rendered during the yoar: The Bishop. Archdeacon Fancourt. Archdeacon Toogood, the Bevp. Sprott, Russell, Hausell, Wynne-Bond, Sykes, Compton, Kayle, M'Connel, Dent, Young, Dean, Tobin, Mutter, and Jenkins ; to the Sunday School teachers ; the sustentation fund collectors ; the members of the choir, and particularly their este9tned organist and choirmaster (Mr. F. J. Proctor) ; and all those who have so willingly assisted in the work of the church generally. Throughout the year the attendances at the Sunday School had been, most satisfactory. The staff at present consisted of twelve, including the superintendent and the secretary. The number of names on the roll is 138 ; of these 38 are in the main school and 50 in the inia.nt kinder-
I garfcen. During the year 18 children I have left, while 47 joined. The school has been entirely eelf-supporting. No fewer th.tn. 80 reward boolis had been given to Lhose scholars who earned them by their marks. The superintendent thanks tlie secretary and the teachers for their loyal and generous help in the school work. ST. JAMES'S, HUTT.
