Regarding the wreck of tho Portuguese steamer Lusitania, 5557 tons grass, at Cape Point, during a mist, the captain, of the vessel (Captain da Faria) at fii'Bb refused to abandon her. The captain of the British cruiser] Forte (Captain J. F. E. Green), which, witji^a. tug, rescued 800 of the paasen^ go-rs and crew, finally went to the LusU tania in the warship's cutter and induced Captain da Faria to alter his j decision, urging that he should not) | sacrifice life uselessly. Captain da Faria, attributes the vesi ReJ.'s loss to the exceptional insot of thet current. The mails were saved. It has been ascertained that four per-* sons were drowned.
