LACK OF SUBJECTS. CANADA'S LIST FOR IMPERIAL CONFERENCE.

SIR W. LAURIER'S DEFENCE. PEACE THROUGHOUT THE WORLD. By Telegraph,— Press Association.— Copyright. (Received April 22, 9 a.m.) OTTAWA, 21st April. Sir Wilfrid Laurier, the Canadian Prime Minister, speaking in the House' of Commons, defend-ed Canada's alleged lack of subjects for discussion at the Imperial Conference, and asserted that there were enough subjects remaining over from the last conference to afford fruitful discussion. He denied that the Dominion was apathetic. The desirability of free trade within the Empire was emphasised by Sir Wilfrid, who hoped the day was approaching when there would be consolidation of the Empire, together with peace throughout the world.
