ST. AUGUSTINE'S, PETONE.
NEW VICAR APPOINTED. In consequence of Rev. J. D. Russell's acceptance of the position of vicar of tne Oamaru parish, the Rev. G. B. Stephenson, vicar of Pongaroa, has been appointed to St. Augustine's, Petone. Mr. Stephenson received his education at St. John's College, Auckland, where be obtained M.A. and M.Sc. degrees. He i also passed his theological examinations with distinction. For two or three years he worked as a curate under Archdeacon Harper at Palmerston North, and later he was in charge of an extensive bush district around Pongaroa. Mr. Stepheneon, who is a> young man, is an enthusiast in athletic affairs, and he has represented Auckland province in Association football. The Rev. J. D. Russell, who has been on a southern visit., returned by theMararoa this morning.
