[>X lELEGE VI-H — SVECI VL TO THE l OST ] WAJLHI, 20th April. i The new tube mills recently i.o£ tailed by the Grand Junction Company are now in commission, and the average tonnage of ore fceing-treated ranges frcm b5O to 400 tons per day, as compared with about 300 tons prior to the addition. The new reef recently intersected south of the Martha lode at 8201" t east of the main north drive at Xo. 5 le\"el continues to disclose a strong body of quartz .going east, but the ore is low grade at present. The sinking of the No. 1 shaft for No. 6 level has been resumed, and provided no unexpected delay occurs in the cutting of the Empire reef and drainage of the lode system at the 1150fb level in the Waihi mine, th& Grand Junction Company should intersect the Empire at No. 6 level, about the end of the present year. The dredge therefore, is shut down and all work suspended. The whole position has. r.eedl»sri to say, received careful and atixiou.-- consideration at the hands of the directors, who, under all circumstances, are unwilling to further call up the capital of the company without first giving shareholders an opportunity of expressing their views on the matter. Very reluctantly, therefore, but to facilitate matters and to avoid unnecessary delay in tlie event of the meeting favouring liquidation, the directors propose to submit to the shareholders a resolution in that direction, '' *
