DENSE SMOKE. MANY THRILLING ESCAPES. By Telegraph.— Press Association.— Copyright. (Received April 20, 9 a.m.) LONDON, 19th April. Through the firing of an electric cable at the Pinkton colliery, Lancashire, the woodwork at the bottom of the shaft became ignited, causing a dense smoke. There were many thrilling escapes. The 400 men at work in the mine were rescued.
