Thousands of people .watched aeroplane competitions' at Hendon and elsewhere. Twenty thousand spectators were watching the motor races at tho Brook lands track, when a sensational accident occurred. Mr. Wilkinson's car was travelling at a speed of ninety miles an hour when the clutch jammed and he was unable to stop at the winningpost. The car jumped 40ft of the toack, cutting through an iron paling fence. Mr. Wilkinson is in a critical condition. Three Newcastle boys were overtaken by the tide at Witley Bay and drowned in the presence of a great crowd. A van dashed into a uarty of holidaymakers in the High-street 6f Harleston, Norfolk, killing two persona and injuring several other*.
