ANGLICAN CLERGY.

BACKBLOCKS NEEDS. ! AUSTRALIAN RECRUITS. ARCHDEACON CROSSLEY INTERVIEWED.. By Telegraph.— Press Association.— Copyright. (Received April 19, 10 a.m.) MELBOURNE, This Day. Archdeacon Crossley, the new Anglican Bishop of Auckland, in an interview, said he held very strongly the opinion that Australia should draw ministerial recruits from Australia, not from abroad. It was an advantage to Australia the bringing out of picked men to do special work, such as teaching, but the great majority came to do hard, thankless work in the backblocks. The ministry should be officered by young men bred and born to the conditions of life, and quite equal to their task from every point of view.
