DROWNING FATALITY.

THE PARAPABAUMU CASE. At the enquiry held yesterday by Dr. M'Arthur into the circumstances of the death by drowning of Clarence Morrish at Paraparaumu en Sunday, the evidence ot the youth Hydo was to the effect that the boat capsized as soon a« it got in the breakers. Deceased and Hyde returned to the beach, and after leaving sail, rowlocks, centre-board, and other, gear, put out once more, using oars as paddles. When over a quarter

of a mile from shoro deceased attempted to change his position in the boat, s>o as to enable ham to use one o£ his hands as a rowlock. In moving he overbalanced and the boat eapsia«<L Hyde caught hold of a paddlo, but immediately handed it over to deceased, whe appeared very frightened. Hyde na r <o for the shore and was met halfway by his father, who had witnessed the ncci dent and immediately dashed to therescue. When Hyde "reached the shorn there was no sign of Morrish, although ho had been seen propelling himself towards the beach after the accident, taking a long diagonal course. Witness bad a thorough knowledge of boats, an-l always considered Morrish to be a good swimmer. Evidence given by ""Mr. D. D. Hyde was to the effect that after bringing his son ashore ho. v/ifch others, launched a,- boat. The launching was delayed for some time, as there were- no oars available. Eventually sticks were used as paddles. There was no sign of jMorrish on a search being made. Chas. E. Hanson deposed to finding the body. A verdict of accidentally drowned was 1 ©turned.
