A MANIFESTO. fBX TELEGRAPH— VS.ES3 ASSOCIATION.] CHRISTCHURCH, 17th April. ' Officers and delegates of the Loyal Orange Institution of New Zealand met in tho Orange Hall on Saturday morning. Sixty-six districts were represented, and about 200 delegates arid visitors were present. The following manifesto' was unanimously agreed to iay delegates and members of the Loyal Orango Institution : — (1) The continuance of our unvs avering support to the publio system of education which has now been established with such splendid results for about thirty-four years, and shall be the only system supported out of the public Treasury. (2) Tho maintenance of the British connection a-nd the support of any movement which tends to make closer and more binding the relations between fho Dominion and the Mother Country. (3) The encouragement of suitable emigration of our kith and kin from the United Kingdom, oversea Dominions, North America-, and Northern Europe. _ (4-) The public inspection of all institutions under the control of any religious denominations which receive aid in, any way from the public Treasury, either by direct grant or rebate of taxes, and that the financial books and -all other records of these institutions be inspected by public auditors at any time. (5) The public inspection of all nunneries, convents, monasteries, church schools, academies, or other similar institutions, and that all teachers in the institutions be compelled to hold Government certificates of competency. (6) The full recognition in the Dominion of marriages performed by a qualified clergyman or other persons vested by the law with that power. (7) That each primary lodge appoint a committee to see that every member ia on the voters' list for local, civic, and Parliamentary elections. (8) That the Grand Executive be appointed a standing committee on legislation in the Dominion, to confer with like committees on matters affecting the Orange Institution in particular and the Dominion generally. MTTarlarie, Dunedin ; Deputy Grand Chaplains, Archdeacon Grace (Blenheim), Rev. W. Fleming (Lawrence), Roy. G. Bailey (Wanganui), Rev. R. Turner (Christchurch) ; Senior Deacon, Bro. J. Hallighan, Christchurch ; Junior Deacon, Bro. H. E. Stephens, Dunedin ; Inside Tyler, Bro. A. Noble, Invercargill,; Outside Tyler, Bro. Davidson, Hastings; committee. Bros. Middleton, Fiddes, Sneddon, Hunter, and Diekison j executive committee, Bros. R. P. Smith (Auckland), Kaye (Timaru), Bros) (Dunedin), Leadley (Aehburton), Hay (Timaru) ; auditors, E. Barlow (Dunedin), W. Fleming (Dunedin). It was decided that the next meeting ot the lodge should be held at Palmerston North.
