WORKERS' TRAMWAY CONCESSIONS.
THE ORDER-IN-COUNCIL. At the last meeting of the City Council ,the Mayor (Mr. T. M. Wilford) criticised the red tape methods of the Public Works Department as the cauee of the delay in putting through the worker*.' tramway concessions, authorised by the council before the end of last year. Tha Minister for Public Work* (Hon. It M'Kenzie) declares that the delay was on the part of the City Count' l. Tim Public Works Department got the appublication for the Order-in- Council for the first time on the 10th March, and then it was wrong, for the declaration which ought to have been attached by the Town Clerk was not there. The application was returned to the council, but did not again come into the hands of the department before 20th March. It was sent to the printer on 3rd April, and yesterday to the Governor for signature.
A party of seven Wellington residents spent the Easter holidays fishing at the French Pass. They had' extraordinary luck. Mr. Stanley Brown caught threo hapuka. weighing 86£lb, 661b, and 551b respectively. There were two boat 6 out, and both were •well filled with fish when they returned.
