BIBLE-CLASS GAMPS
VISITORS' DAY AT HUTT PARK. To-day is visitors' day at the New 'Zealand Methodist Bible Class Camp which is being held at the Hutt Park. There was a. constant stream of visitors to and fro all day, and at mid-day there was a very large number present. Proceedings took the form of an all-round sports gathering. The heats of the numerous events were decided on Saturday, I and to-day the finals were got oil. Troj phics are to he givon to the winner of i each event. Points {three, two, and one for the respective places gained) are also given, and the Bible Class which gains tha highest number holds, for one year,, the banner which is annually competed for. The arrangements for the sports meeting were in the hands of Mr. Amos, who acted, as secretary. There were big fields, and some of the chief results are appended : — lOOj-ds.— Martls (Wanganui), 1 ; Mathe-:-son (Wellington), 2; Russell (Christchurch), 3. Time, 10 l-ssee. Half-mile.— S. Jones* (Trinity, Wellington), 1; Wilson (Dnnedin), 2; Elanagin -(Christchurch), 3. Timcj, 2min 24 3-ssec. Long Jump. — Rev. Bands (Otaki), 19ft -6in, 1; M'Uowan (Auckland), 19ft 2£iii, 2; Matheson (Wellington), 18ft lO^in, 3. 100 yds Junior (under 18). — W. Law (Christchurch), 1; Dryden (Karori), 2; Raine (Karori), 3. Time, 11 2-ssec. 220yds— Hartis (Wanganui), 1; Cossins iCanterbury), 2; R. Law (Christ-, -church), 3. Time, 24sec. All the events were championships, and the finishes in each ease were close. Camp will be struck this evening. Altogether a very enjoyable time has been •spent under canvas. The programme has been packed with addresses and lectures, and great, interest has been taken in these. _ The southern members go south by this evening's steamer. AT BELMONT. Proceedings at the Presbyterian Young j Men's Bible-class camp at Belmontwere continued yesterday. In the morning the service was con-ducted by the Rev. j R. Ing-lis, who took for his subject j "Personal Christian Belief : what it is I and what it involves." In the afternoon another large meeting was held in the marquee, when an interesting discussion tool; plsce, the subject chosen being "Missions." This was introduced fay Mr. W. Gordon, of Napier, who dealt with foreign missions, while Mr. Moore (Wellington) followed, dealing briefly with home missions. In the evening service was conducted in Knox Church (Lower Hutt) by the Rev. J. M'Caw. Besides the campers, there was a very large congregation present. To-day the championship sports meeting is being held. Large entries were received for all events, and it was expected that the various classes would put up hard fights for the final honour?.
