WORK AT THE ABATTOIR.
Slaughterings at tho City Abattoir during tho month of March numbered: 81? cows, 494 bullocks and heifers, 9 bulls?v 4206 shsop, 956 lambs, 46 calv««, aud 4 pigs. There were condemned as unfit for human food : 15 sheop, 6 cons, and lli bullocks. Fees received ainoiLnfced to £147 0s Bd, an increase of £15 Si 6d over tho previous month. Foes from meat export slaughterhouses eeUmg me'it within the abattoir district were J3l!>4 7s 7d. From runners and offal £131 7s Id was collected. It was reported that tha stock slaughtered «is of excellent quality, with the exception of eleven bullocks, killed for boning purposes. Tho increase of stock slaughtered during Marctt, compared with the corresponding month of last year wa6 327 cattle, 2194 cheep, 266 lanibs. Calves show a decrease of IQI and' oiga of 39
