The Seddon-Ward section of •'-he South Island Main Trunk railway, 14 miles 44 chains 1 , was opened to-day by the Hon. R. M'Kenzie, in the presence of a very large assemblage of settlers. The> train brought a big crowd from Blenheim and Seddon. After short speeches by the Minister and Mr. J. Duncan, member for the district, the train steamed to the platform and severed a ribbon held by the two oldest lady residents in the district. After the formal opening the Minister was entertained at a banquet by the Railway League and Chamber of Commerce.
