CHURCH SERVICES.
There were services in most' of the churches on Good Friday. Preaching at St. Paul's pro-Cathedral in the morning, the Rev. T. H. Sprott took for his text "We thus judge if one died for all, then were all dead ; and that He died for all that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves." The congregation was a large one, and the bishop-elect preached an eloquent sermon. Services were also held at the other Anglican Churches in the city. The usual services were held in the I Roman Catholic Churches. At th© Basilica Mass of Presanctified was celebrated by his Grace Archbishop Redwood in the morning. The service of the Stations of the Cross was held in the afternoon, and in the evening Monsignor Fowler preached. A special service was conducted in St. John's Church by the Rev. Dr. Gibb, who spoke on the text Luke xxiii., 46 : "Having said this He gave up the ghost." There was a large congregation at the service at the Missions to Seamen on Good Friday morning, when Mr. G. Castle preached from St. John 19, v. 16 : "Tnen delivered he Him therefore unto them to be crucified." In the evening a limelight lantern service was held in. the Institute, a large congregation being present. Mr. J. S. Cuminings read the service, and the l-iev. B. H. "Ward spoke of incidents in the life of Christ, and tha lessons gained from them. Miss Leiz took the solo "Calvary," and the choir and congregation sang special hurnns. Mr. G. W. Barltrcp managed the lantern and "Mr. j W. Gardner presided at the organ.
