A little more rain has fallen in the high lands and the feed prospects for the autumn are very much more promising than they were last week. By a little error in the transmission of a. telegram — the conversion of the word none into nine — tho Victoria Bowling Club (Wellington) got a, pleasant surprise and prepared for a, visit from three rinks from Feilding on Friday. The news was too good to be true; there will be no visitors to Mount Victoria from this end. The Feilding Club is sending two teams to Wanganui after the Keesing Cup. The stay-'at-hoiiie members havearranged to spand the holiday in a pairs tournament for prizes. Eight or nine pairs have nominated. Mdlle. Dolores, interviewed here, said the New Zealand voice is a mezzo in females and a baritoneMn males. The pure soprano, contralto, tenor, and bass is a rare voice in the Dominion. At an organ recital to be given here next Tuesday by Mi. H. Temple White, Miss Muriel Bennett, of Wellington, will be the vocal soloist.
