MR. HOBi-IOUSE HECKLED IN PARLIAMENT. AN EXPLANATION. Bj Telegraph. — Pre: a Association. — Copyright LONDON. 11th April. Mr. C. E. Hobhouse, Financial Secretary to the Treasury, was hfi.kl-.-d in Parliament to-day in connection viith tlio failure of the Treasury to iisue iucome tax demands in time to enab'e many laiga firms to pay before the end of the financial year. It had been alleged that this was done to prevent the -money from going automatically into old nnkjrg fimds, Mr. Hobhotiie stated that the thr.irnian of the Board of .inland Revenue gave instructions to a subordinate, who made a mistake in tlie course of executing them. Tip Minister admitted that the responsibility must re.-t as a last resort upon himself, but added that no orders delaying the collection had been given by the Treasury.
