The Princess Royal, which is one- of tho eight battleahipo of the 1909-10 programme, will be fitted with 70,000 horsepower turbine -engines, capable of driving her at twenty-seven and a half knots and probably thirty knots vhen necessity arises. She will outpace the Atlantic greyhounds, and yet carry guns which will enable her to fight against the super-Dreadnoughts. Her displacement will be 26,000 tons, and her length, which is nearly 200 ft more than that of the Ver.guard, will make even the latest cruisers and battleships look small. It is probpble that she will be armed with 13.5 in guns. Messrs. Vickere, Sons, and Maxim contracted for the whole of the work, the cost to the country being £2,000.000, and they have, to turn the girnt ship over to the Admiralty, complete and ready for commission, in March, 1912. The Vanguard was completed by the same firm in twenty-two months.]
