NEW ZEALAND COUNCIL., ' The newly-constituted New Zealand Golf Council held its first meeting yess terday afternoon at Messrs. Badham and Bias's office. Tho delegates of all the metropolitan clubs were present — viz.s Auckland Golf Club, Mr. A. MChvrk; Christchurch, Mr. Walter E. Reid'j Greymouth, Mr. M. W. HortoaInverca*gill, Mr. P. C. Freeth; Napier, £. «, Q *» Nl Phwazyn; Ngamotu. Mr s T. Shailer Westonj Nelson, Mr. E. L. Chaffey; Ota-go, Mr. W. A. Kennedys Wellington, Air. A. S. Biss. Mr. A. S. Biss was elected chairman and Mr, E. L. Chaffey Becretary and] treasurer. Mr. P. C. Preeth proposed and Mr. G. N. Pharazyn seconded— " That thai folio-wing gentlemen — viz., Messrs. T. Crosse (Hastings), D. Pry'de (Feilding), and A. Duncan (Wellington)— be asked to report <m the suitability of tha Wanganui links for th© next champions ship meeting."— Carried. Mr. G. N. Pharazyn moved and Mr. M. W. _ Horton seconded— " That all metropolitan golf clube be circularised inviting them to discuss amongst the, clubs on their district a workable schema to standardise their handicaps, taking the metropolitan clubs' handicaps as a basis."— Carried. Mr. A. S. Bka moved— "That the, metropolitan, clubs be written to points ing out that this council is of the 1 opinion that the principal clubs in each) district 6hould have a uniform rule governing green fees for visitors and subscriptions for officers of the Army] and Navy.'^ Also, "That each club im th© association, be asked to state what) entrance fee is payable by now mem-, bers, and whether tho club hae a rule nnder which new members are allowed any rebai© of entrance fee to the extent ol any entrance fees already paid by such members to the club they previously belonged to, and whether, if nol such rule exists, they are willing to| adopt one." — Carried.
