FOEEC4ST. At 9 a.m. the following forecast was Issued (or the subsequent 24 hours: — Winds.— Moderate to strong southerly winds are piobable northward of New Plymouth and Napier, and westerly winds elsewhere, 'squally at times, especially in Foveaux Strait. Barometer.— Rise slowly northwaid of Hokitika a-nd Kaikoura; unsteady elsewhere. Sea.— Considerable on all the weutern coast; heavy in Foveaux Strait ; ,moderaie elsewhere. Tides.— Good on the west coast of the North Island ; moderate elsewhere. Warning signals for westerly gales are exhibited at Nugget Point and Centre Island. Weather.— Cool and changeable weather generally, and there are indications for fine weather by day, and cold nigbts northward of Hokitika and Kaikoura, but showery and changeable weather in the vicinity of Foveaux Strait.
