MR. MASSEY IN THE SOUTH.

ROXBURGH, 7th April. In company with Mr. R. Scott, member for Tuapeka, Mr. W. F. Massey (Leader of the Opposition), left Dunedin this morning, and arrived at Roxburgh in the evening, having come by coach from Lawrence. Mr. Massey delivered an address to a large . audience in the Athenaeum . Hall. Dr. Gilmour, Mayor of Roxburgh, presided. The speaker was accorded a. patient hearing, his Temarks being punctuated with applause, and at the conclusion he received a hearty vote of thanks. The address was somewhat on the lines of previous addresses delivered in Canterbury. The speaker criticised the Government's iand' policy and also its methods of finance^ and adversely commented on the heavy borrowing which had been in practice since the present Government came into power. He also dealt with other questions of public interest. He will speak at Alexandra on Saturday night.
