The King of Greece has determined to relinquish one-third of bis income, in order to relieve the financial embarrassment of his country. 7th October. The Paraguayan invasion of Brazil has terminated, General Flores being victorious, and capturing 1,700 Paraguayan troops. The report that Consul Cameron was released is unrounded. He is confined closer than ever. The American Press states that President Johnson contemplates a gene raj amnesty to the Southern people, including Jefferson Davis, who is now allowed to correspond openly with his friends. 13th October. Cholera has made its appearance at Southampton. 14th October. The revenue returns for the September quarter are very satisfactory. The rise in the English discount market to seven per cent, with the prospect of its going higher, is confirmed. The Massachusetts Convention declares strongly against the exclusion of the Southern States from Congress until the passing of the Negro Suffrage Bill.
New York, 2nd October. Provisional Government of Alabama have been instructed to call out 1 the militia to suppress disorder. Two steamers sailed to-day carrying one million for Irish Fenian Republic. Negro Suffrage Bill defeated in Connecticut. Great flrein New York on 19th September, damape 4,000,000 dols. Reorganisation of South progressing slowly. It is reported that the negroes ha»e been carried from Florida to Cuba and sold, Davis has been removed to Carrol Hall Georgia. Generals Briscoe and Manules, Government officials, have been arrested for a conspiracy to plunder treasury. The treasure taken by Davis from Richmond banks has been recovered. No tidings of the Shenandoah. The following additional items appeared it the Californian papers to the sth October, brought by the Othello to Sydney :— The Convention has unanimously resolved that the Act of Secession is null and void. The Osage Indians have ceded a million acres of rich land in Kansas to Government. A line of new steamers has commenced running from Baltimore to Liverpool. Desperate fighting with the Indians continues. Guerillas had appeared in Tennessee, robbing and murdering indiscriminately. The South Carolina State Convention had declared itself favourable to the abolition of slavery, and repealed the secession ordinance. The United States squadron in the Pacific is to be reinforced by ten heavily-armed vessels and two iron-dads additional.
