MILITARY INTELLIGENCE.
The friends and admirers of the 58th Regiment will be sorry to learn that " accounts from India tay that the regiment has suffered greatly from sickness, and it is pitiable to see the poor emaciated men ; they more resemble ghosts than human beings. Their
excellent commanding officer, LieutenantColonel Hood, has given himself up so en- ' tirely to the well-doing of his regiment, that he was near sacrificing his own health, and has but lately recovered from a sharp attack lof fever. The siokneis in this regiment is 1 now abating, and if the present change of the weather, from heat to comparative coolness, only continues, the men will be well recovered before the drill leason commences. This regiment ia not to change its quarters." PROMOTIONS. 14th Foot. — Lieutenant John Wilson, to be Captain, by purchase, vice George Buck, who retires ; Ensign Bertram Walter E.
