The Provincial Government Gazette, of the 27th instant, contains the resignation of the following gentlemen as Market Board Commissioners : —J. H. Wallace, J. Martin , J. Dransfleld, George Crawford, and Peter Laing. William Henry Newton, province of Wellington, comedian, lately carrying on business in Christchuroh, Canterbury, in co-part nerahip with Henry Ohas. Smith, as licensed victuallers, has fled his petition, the hearing o. which will take place at the Supreme C<>art, Wellington, on the 15th January next. The shipping return for the port of Wanganui shows that 40 vessels entered harbour during the quarter ending September, 1864 ; and 101 vessels the September quarter, 1865. V The total amount of lands sold in the province of Wellington from Ist to 31st October lust, wan 34,592 acres ; and the cash received on account of same £5641 14s 6d. Zfr Walter Turnbull, Esq., J.P., and N. Levin, Esq, J.P., presided at the Resident Magistrate's Court to-day. stable, was fined 40s, or seven days' imprisonment. A meeting of the City of Wellington Band of Hope was held last evening in the Wesleyan schoolroom. There were 90 children present. Mr. Tolley (President) occupied the chair, and the meeting was opened with singing and prayer. Mr. Prince then addressed the children ; after which several of them came forward and repeated pieces for prizes. The meeting closed at eight o'clock with the Doxology. The amount collected at the Fenny Bank amounted to £7 ss. The Garriok Club performance yesterday evening, for the benefit of Mrs. Sleigh, passed off very well. The two stars of the company — Messrs. Standwell and Wrigglesworth —acquitted themselves with much credit, displaying a share of ability but seldom wit nessad on the Wellington stage. Miss Anetead and Mr. Standwell were called before the curtain at the close of the play, and received the honours of a gratified audience.
