THE WEST COAST GOLD FIELDS.
? RUSH TO THE BULLER. The Nelson Examiner says: — "By the steamer Eleanor, which arrived late last night from the West Coast, we learn that a rush hau commenced to the Buller, the Eleanor having called there on her way up with a large number of passengers. The rush is caused we believe in consequence of the quantity of rich auriferous sand known to abound there. 1 ' The Colonist's summary says: — "Since our last month's summary 41,445 ounces of gold have been brought into the Port of Nelson from the West Coast Gold fields, the Grey, and liokitika, and this does not show fully the mouth's produce of these fields as 3500 ounces were sent direct from Hokitika to Sydney. This would make the month's yield 44,945 ounces, the value of which is £191,241 17s 6d." The Nelson Examiner says:— "The Customs Revenue received at Hokitika for the month of October was X 18,659, together with £3,500 as gold duty, making a total revenue for the month of £17,159. The duty received at Hokitika during the same period on gold declared to have been obtained in Nelson, was £437." There is no other gold fields' news to be added to what we have already published.
