THE GARRISON HUNT.

The third meeting of the Garrison Hunt, took place at the off farm of George Howard, Esq., East Tamaki, and was a great success. At about two o'clock, several hundred people had assembled, and about fifty of whom essayed the run; Major Baker officiated as matter of the hunt, Major Greaves, wbhiper in. The stewards were Captain Stone, Captain Green, R.A., Lieutenant Robinson, 40th Regiment, and J. Banks, Esq. Ai half past two the horn was blown, and the

hounds set off with every prospect of a fine day's hunt.' After a fast run of half an hour, over a hard country, during which the " croppers" were very numerous, or in other words a large proportion of the gallant hunters came to grief— the hounds were " killed." The spectators had a fine view from the hill in the middle of the farm. There was a capital luncheon provided and served up in excellent style by Mr. Howard, in two marquees, to which every one did ample justice. At the close of the meeting a proposal was made with reference to a Hunt Club being formed, after some discussion it was resolved that a I Hunt Club be established to consist of j fifty members at ten pounds each and that i the requisite number of hounds be procured from Australia. About 80 or 90 ladies were present, and there could not altogether have been less than 500 persons in the field.— N. Z. Herald.
