The members of both Mouses of Parliament have resolved to entertain their friends in Wellington at a Ball before th session closes. We believe a committee has already been appointed to carry out the preliminaries. No expense is to be spared in getting up the affair. It will be held in one of the Legislative Chambers. - We are glad to be able to inform our readers that some means have been devised iur the mutual improve. nent of the young men in Wellington, by the fo niation of a Young Men's Christian Association, tlie meetings of whicsh are held every Thursday evening and Sunday afternoon. Thursday evenings are devoted to essiys, discussions, and devotional meetings, and .Sundays to biblical instruction The first meeting of the month will bo held for devotional purposes on Thursday, (D.V.) at- 8 p.m., in Mr. Kinniburgh's school room, Cuba-street. The levelling and making of the road at the junction or Manners aprffeb and Wellington Terrace by prUmr labour, under the supervision of the/Cily Purveyor, i« now completed in a/very satisfactory manner. The useful application of prison labour is every whecrf manifest in the city, and the example tet to neighbouring provinces in this respect Is worthy of being followed.
