DIOCESAN SYNOD.
YESTEBDAI'. The Synod assembled yesterday at two o'clock, the following gentlemen being present : -The Lord Bishop of Wellington, Archdeacon Hadfleltl, Reverends It. Taylor, H. W. St. Hill, A. Stock, W. Ronaldson, D. Dcsbois, P. H. Maxwell, T. Abraham j Mr. Hart, Hon. R. Stokes, Hon. Major Coote, Messrs. Ludlam, Pearce, Battersbee, Bannatyne, Tiraithwaite, Barraud, and Hunter. The President having opened the proceedings with prayer, the minutes of previous day's proceedings were read and confirmed. The Hon, R. Stokes moved that a committee be appointed to sit during the recess, and revise the Hymnal, with the view of suggesting improvements to the Bench of Bishops. Committee to cohsist of Rev. P. H. Maxwell, Rev. A. Stock, Mr. G. Hart, and the mover. The motion was seconded by Mr. Hart, and carried. The Hon. R. Stokes moved that the report of the standing committee be adopted and printed . The motion was seconded by Mr. Hadfleld, and carried. The Rev. A. Stock moved that the report and balance sheet of the Pension Board be adopted and printed. Mr. Pearce seconded the motion, which was carried. The following, moved by the Reverend A. Stock, and seconded by Mr. Hart, was carried :— " 2. That the following recommendation of the General Synod be adopted :— • That in each parish of the diocese in each year a sermon shall be preached in aid of the Pension Fund, the prftoeeds to be added to the Endowment Fund.' "--Carried. A second recommendation, that the annual subscriptions of the clergy be doubled by the Diocesan Fund, was withdrawn. Moved by the Rev. A. Stock, seconded by Archdeacon Hadfield — " That the words 'to represent itself when not in session 1 be withdrawn from resolution 2."— Carrie*

The Act Amendment Bill was read a second time and pass d through Committee. Notices of motion were given by Mr.Pearce and the Rev. W. Ronaldson.
