CHESS. TO THE EDITOR OF THE EVENING POST. Wellington, Sept. 14.

Sir — I have been hunting long and wearily for many weeks past, during the evenings, for a chess player. Can you give me your valuable aid, and allow me to throw down the gauntlet, by correspondence in your paper, to be taken up by any person inclined for a friendly game. Trusting you will assist me, I enclose my oprning move, and hope in to-morrow's issue to find a correspondent. I am, &c, . AhvuJtj. 1. P to X's -ith.^^
