ADELAIDE. Wednesday, 2nd August.
There has been a fatal affray with the natives on Lake's station, on the Eastern plains. Mr. Lake was wounded with spears, and two natives were killed. The aif.iir was caused by the slaughter of some sheep by the blackfellows' dogs. Captain Bagot's motion in the Council, asserting the desirability of communicating with the other colonies with a view to the establishment of a colonial line of mail steamers to Galle, was carried. The Northern Runs Commissioner start * on Saturday, via Port Augusta. A preliminary meeting, to form, a company to huild a new theatre, with restaurant attached, was held this afternoon, with very successful results. A thousand shares were subscribed for in the room. The capital is to be .£IO,OOO, with power to inciease the amount.
