W. W. Taylor, Esq., has boon elected Sj faker of the Provincial Council. Walker Jordan, Esq., after a lengthy discussion, was appointed Clerk of the Council. Mr. J. H. Wnllace resumed his former place in the Council as Chairman of Committees. This evening the Provincial Solicitor will move for leave to brim? in five Bills — the -first to alter the '• Harbour Reserves Amendmput Act, Session VIl/., No. 3 ;" tho second, Nt'or the appointment of a House and Library Committee; the third, to confirm certain conditional salos of part of reclaimed land m ide by the Superintendent ; the fourth, to enable the Superintendent to remove the Pilot Station at the entrance of the harbour ; and the fifth, for the appointment of a Select Committee to revise the standing orders. The Provincial Secretary will move for leave lo bring in a Bill to provide for the construction establishment, and maintenance of electric telegraphic communication. Mr. Bunny will move for various returns of money expended in the Wnirarapii from May, 1863, to 30th June, 1804. Mr. Hickson will more for a return of amount of cash in hand and available funds at the credit of the Provincial Government, sperifying particulars thereof. Thu s.s. Maid of the Yarra arrived in port last nifiht at hnlf-past eleven o'clock. She left Ilolritika on the Blh, at 9 a m,, for Nelson, with 3,100 ounces of gold mid forty passengers ; arrived iv Nelson on Saturday afternoon, at three o'clock ; left Nelson yesterday tit half-past nine, arriving as above.
