AUSTRALIAN TELEGRAMS. (FROM THE SYDNEY MORNING HERALD, 16TH JUNE,) Adelaide, 15th June.
The sale of runs, held under the annual leases, took place this morning. There was great excitement, and the room was crowded. Mr. Wray, solicitor on the part of the present lessees, who came to claim a right of renewal for five years, protested, in writing, and also verbally, against the sale. Seventy-nine lots were ottered, of which ninteen were passed. One lot in the Port Lincoln district, lately occupied by Mr. Margarey, realised £35 5s per square mile per annum. The average result of the sale was from £3 to £17 per square mile. The great majority were bought in by the present lessees. The Assembly voted another .£IOOO to Stuart, the explorer. Next Tuesday will be kept as a public holiday. Mr. Commissioner Macdonald is better, and there are now some hopes of his recovery. Captain Hay's house, at Kadina, was entered by two men, who tied up the servaut, and carried off all they could find. No transactions iv wheat or Hour are reported to-day. The market is quiet, and quotations unaltered.
