Charles Pearson Fox, the young man who was committed for trial on charges of burglary and robbery at the Post Office, Dunedin, in which he was a clerk, wis discharged from custody by Mr. Justice Richmond ; the Grand Jury having ignored the bill against him. At the same time that the Grand Jury made this return, they brouiiht in a true bill against William Ford .and Ellen Anderson, for the murder of " Charley," the German ; and also a true bill against William Boycott, for horse stealing at Oatnaru. According to notice given, the Wellington Volunteer Fire Brigade made their first appearance on parade last night in their new dress, and presented a very imposing appearance The dress is becoming, and looks remarkably well ; it consists of a red flannel tunic and a leather helmet. They formed in a line of procession, bearing torches ; with three engines and horses harnessed thereto, preceded by the Rifle Volunteer Band, playing lively airs ; and having paraded through the principal streets, retired to spend the evening harmoniously. There is but one opinion as to the high state of efficiency of the Brigade, to, whom the public are much in kbted for the zeal displayed by o fflcers and mcv.
