The Criminal Sittings commenced to-day. His Honor Judge Johnson took his seat on the bench at ten o'clock this morning, when the Grand Jury panel was immediately called over, and the jurors oworn His Honor proceeded to charpe, observing there was no crime out of the ordinary Character on the calendar, and nothing- of an alarming nature, the few cases set down for trial being for the greater part iarceny. Robert Daniel was indicted for stealing a parse containg money. Catherine O'lieiliy deposed that she lived at Turakina, and that prisoner lodged with her on the 23rd May, when ehe lost a purse containing four £1 notes, and three half sovereign*. David Atkinson, sergeant of police, deposed

to having arrested prisoner in a hotel nt W.iu. j ga-mi, when lie found on him a pnr<e containing (hree £\ no'r-P, one sovereign, three half-crowns and miiiio coppers.
