Dunedin, 2tth May, 4.3 p.m. Weather, wet. Markets flat in consequence. First number of Dunedin Punch issued to-day, Arrived from the North — Wellington, 10 a.m. ; Hero, 12 noon. The Bluff, 5 20 p.m. Railway plant of the Bluff and Invercargill Railway sold by order of Sheriff, to satisfy judgment debt of Cain and M'Kenasie. Amount realized was <£273. Plant valued at £20,000. Purchaser, M'Kenzie. Provincial Treasurer gave notice that sale was illegal, having been stayed by order of Supreme Court. Dunedin, May 29, 4 55 p.m. Large congregations to hear the Bishops yesterday. An earthquake was felt on Saturday. A death has occurred in the Hospital, supposed to be from the effects of poison. Professor Bellew has been successful in the rope performance ; untying the rope iv eight minutes. The extended jurisdiction of the Magistrate's Court io cases of £100 has been brought into force (?) A man has been killed at the Saw Mills.
