The anniversary of the Queen's birthday was celebrated with becoming loyalty. All public offices were closed, and private business suspended. The shipping jn the harbour displayed their best bunting — and at noon the Ravenscraig fired a Royal salute in honour of the occasion. The Wellington Kifle Volunteers, formed into a gala party, proceeded to Petoni in four-wheeled conveyances, there to flre a feu de joie, and pass in review order their commander. The Oddfellows mustered at their Hall, and in full regalia marched through the principal streets, returning to the point from whence they started, there to partake of a banquet, which, if we are to judge of the preparations making, will be worthy of their acceptance. At the sitting of the Supreme Court, Nelson, on Thursday last, David Henderson Murdoch, formerly teller in the Bank of New Zealand at Picton, was charged with having embezzled £3700 in bank notes, the property of the Bank. The jury, after an absence of an hour and a half, brought in a verdict of not guilty, the announcement of which was received in the court with applanse. The Alhambra arrived at Nelson on the 18th instant, after having made a rapid passage of five days five hours from Melbourne to Hokitika.
