The Evening Post. SATURDAY, MAY 13, 1865. ARRIVAL OF THE AIREDALE.
The Airedale arrived at three o'clock this afternoon, from northern ports, via Nelson. The Auckland papers contain no news of impoTtanoe. The editor of the Colonist has -with his usual kindness, forwarded a slip to this office, containing much interts ing news. The steamer Bruce had returned to Nelson, from Hokitika, bringing 2700 ozs. of gold, and reports that few diggers seem desirous to return. She confirms the news brought by the Albion yesterday (which will be found below, of the discovery of an excellent bay, to which Captain Gibson, the representative of the Canterbury Government, gave the name of Bruce Bay, the little steamer Bruce being the first steam craft that dropt anchor in its waters. From the lateness of the hour we are unable to publish the lengthened report of the surveying expedition, but its chief features are embodied in the follow- < ing :—
