Sir,—Can you inform me where the General Government timber yard is, as I am given to understand that they (the Government) have started as Timber Merchants, and as they seem to have plenty of money to throw away, I expect they will be able to buy cheap and sell at the same rate. The reason I think they have plenty of money is, in consequence o£ seeing various alterations at the Government House, those alterations being under private contract, instead of public, as I always understood public money had a right to be publicly ttndered for.
