Gentlemen, IAVA IL myself of the first mail for New Zealand 1 , since the receipt of the result of the contest for the Superintendency, to tender you my very sincere thanks for the honour you have conferred upon me in electing me, for the fifth time, to the highest office which it is in your power to bestow. Be assured that I am not only deeply grateful for this kind appreciation of my past endeavours to promote the true interests of the province, but that my earnest hope is, that, whenever I retire from the office of Superintendent, it may be found that your confidence has not been misplaced.
